Fresh Spring 2022 Trend: Balletcore

Fresh Spring 2022 Trend: Balletcore

Balletcore is experiencing a resurgence on TikTok in 2022 from from its 2010 appearance. Comprised of leotards, soft pink flare miniskirts, knee high socks, leg warmers, wrap sweaters, turtlenecks, shrugs, flare leggings, wrap tie skirts, ballet flats and tightly fitting coats, the feminine aesthetic is basically reminiscent of a ballerina off-duty.

And while ballet-inspired looks aren’t a new trend to the runway, balletcore is more easily worn, and cozy trend that is giving the look new life.

TikTok trend forecasters @LivBolish and Biz Sherbet recently predicted balletcore to be one of 2022’s biggest trends. “In many ways, ballet-inspired fashion it’s a natural evolution of athleisure,” she says. “It offers the same comfort and stretch but it’s undeniably more glamorous.”

Trend forecaster Mandy Lee calls ballet-inspired fashion “Parisian ballet,” and says it blends traditional ballerina attire with Parisian streetwear, such as knee-high socks, bows and berets.

Modern-day balletcore is likely to stick around, thanks to its blending of cozy streetwear and romantic look. At its core, the aesthetic is all about comfort and beauty, and what woman doesn’t love to feel cute, sexy and comfy?

Although balletcore is still a relatively new trend, it doesn’t look like it will be going away any time soon. It’s blend of cozy athleisure and streetwear is perfectly casual and stylish.  If you want to stay ahead of the curve, make sure to check out Kix’ies newest ballet inspired style, “Jackie” or the cozy over the knee socks.
